The Beer Archives: New Glarus Organic Revolution, November 2008

Straightforward word association—I saw the word “revolution” and I went with the Russian Revolution. Could’ve gone American Revolution, could’ve gone French Revolution, but I found a nifty font that looked vaguely Cyrillic. So there we go.

This was created 84 years after the death of Lenin, 23 years after Rocky IV, and 17 years after the end of the Soviet Union, so I figured it wouldn’t be terribly controversial. Wrong! I was told that an older gentleman at the bar complained bitterly about this design. The figure was meant to evoke Soviet statues, but wasn’t really supposed to be Lenin. Maybe the angry fellow assumed it was Stalin. Who knows. He was politely told to piss off, but I created an alternate version just in case more Cold Warriors wandered in.
